Caring for copper
Will my copper bottle tarnish?
+
Yes. Pure copper oxidises — that is normal and, in Ayurvedic thinking, part of how the object lives. To bring back the shine, rub with half a lemon and a little salt (or a paste of salt and tamarind) once a week, then rinse — or let it patina. Both are correct.
Is the copper lined with anything?
+
No. Every piece of copperware we sell is pure, unlined, unlacquered copper — the traditional specification. We do not use tin-lined copper (that is kitchenware-grade but breaks the practice).
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
+
Please do not. Hot water and dishwasher detergent strip copper fast. Hand-wash with warm water, and bring back the shine with lemon and salt once a week.
Can I use it for anything other than water?
+
The bottles and dispenser are for water only — copper reacts with acidic or fermented drinks. The tumblers and mule mugs are made for cold drinks; if you serve anything citrus-based in them, rinse them soon after.
Shipping & delivery
Where do you ship?
+
The United Kingdom, dispatched from our UK warehouse. EU delivery is coming soon — leave your email on any product page and we’ll write when it opens.
How long does delivery take?
+
We aim to dispatch within 2 working days. Royal Mail Tracked 48 (£3.50, free on orders of £25+ after any discounts) typically arrives 2–3 working days after dispatch.
Is my order tracked?
+
Yes — the Royal Mail Tracked service we use is fully tracked. While our automated emails come online, write to hello@rasaniva.co.uk with your order reference and we’ll send your tracking number.
Returns & guarantees
What is your returns policy?
+
You can cancel within 14 days of receiving your order, then have a further 14 days to send it back — we refund the full price plus standard delivery once it’s on its way back. Return postage is yours unless the item is faulty, in which case everything is on us. Full details on the Shipping & Returns page.
What if my order arrives damaged?
+
Email hello@rasaniva.co.uk with a photo — ideally within 48 hours so we can chase the courier, though this never affects your statutory rights. We'll send a replacement at no cost.
The practice
Does copper water actually do anything?
+
Ayurvedic practitioners have valued the practice — tamra jal — for thousands of years, and that heritage is why we love it. We won’t promise it will change your health; what we will promise is softer-tasting water and a ritual worth keeping. For specific health questions, speak to a qualified practitioner.
How long should water sit in copper?
+
Traditionally 8 hours or overnight. Pour fresh water in the evening, drink it in the morning.
Is copper water safe?
+
For a typical adult drinking from a copper vessel stored overnight, yes. If you have a copper-related medical condition (e.g. Wilson's disease), speak to your doctor first.
